External RadiationWe offer the latest in external beam radiotherapy hardware & planning software. Our treatment planning systems allow 3-dimensional conformal therapy in both of our Cancer Centers. Our equipment is constantly updated to maintain the highest standards of care. Prostate ImplantsWe are pleased to offer the Valley's only complete prostate seed implant & high-dose rate implant program. Our program consists of a group of radiation oncologists with urologists who have been extensively trained in both implant techniques. Our implants are carefully planned using the latest 3-dimensional planning software. We have now implanted over 60 patients and have obtained results in excess of national standards. High-Dose Rate (HDR) TherapyFor patients with lung, cervix, endometrium, esophagus, bile duct, rectum or prostate cancer, HDR treatment may be an option after external radiotherapy. Treatment are delivered through hollow plastic tubes that are inserted into or next to the tumor. A small radioactive iridium source is then driven by computer into the tubes. The computer is programmed to deliver the maximum dose to the tumor while minimizing radiation to other tissues. Studies have shown increased tumor control rates with HDR treatments.
Other TreatmentsWe also offer a variety of other treatments for various cancers including injections of strontium-89 for patients with painful bone involvement by tumor, iodine-131 for thyroid disorders and strontium-90 for patients with pterygium.
